That’s right – me!
My day spent on Halloween consisted mainly of congestion and lack of sleep brought on by a miserable cold, and a house-ridden candy deprivation surely didn’t help this sniffling plight.
But the symptoms surely began to subside when I discovered I had won a copy of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children from none other than its publisher, Quirk Books.
How did this happen, you may ask? Well, I was scrolling through Twitter and came upon Quirk Books’ #HalloweenABook contest. Hashtag games like these always got me all hand-rubby and lip-licky, to say the least, and so I went at it with full force:
As you can see, they liked all of my clever book puns, especially “The Return of the Pumpkin King”, resulting in this delightful surprise in my inbox not a moment later:
Yes! My cleverness within the realm of bookish puns proved to be fruitful, indeed! So, imagine my delight just three days later, walking to the mailbox to find the special film edition of Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children neatly wrapped up with my very address on it sent by none other than Quirk Books themselves:
Coincidentally, this book was chosen as my literary hand-out for World Book Night 2014 (an excellent event that was unfortunately discontinued last year), and is a great read. Now, it’s even greater since it’s now in my own possession – another addition to my countless array of books.
Have you ever read Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children? And, if you’ve seen the film, how was it compared to the book?
